Background

A well-known bank selected our team to deliver an enhanced onboarding programme for mobile software developers, spanning 7 modules and totalling 3 hours of learning.

The content was complex, and stakeholders struggled to visualise how it would translate into a clear learning experience. There was also a risk that their clean, minimal brand style would feel too basic for an enhanced build.

01 / The Task

Lead the creative direction.

My role

My task was to guide the early creative direction of the programme, acting as the Storyline subject-matter expert and helping the team align on a clear approach.

Once the direction was agreed, I needed to build an initial prototype that demonstrated the approach, using animatics-style motion and transitions to elevate the minimalist design.

This prototype acted as the creative reference point for the wider programme, setting the quality bar before production scaled across multiple modules.

02 / The Strategy

Four moves to make it work.

Creative direction.

Led early creative decisions by collaborating closely with the Learning Designer and Graphic Designer, shaping what was feasible and effective within Storyline and sharing previous examples for conceptual and visual references.

Reusable templates.

Created a reusable set of templates that suited the developer onboarding content, giving the team a consistent approach they could reuse across multiple modules.

Motion uplift.

Established the enhanced feel, through motion, wipe transitions and emphasis animations while keeping the interface clean and minimal.

Prototype build.

Built a Storyline prototype that brought the agreed direction to life, setting clear expectations for screen structure, pacing, and interaction style before design and scripting scaled up.

03 / Results

The result.

Faster team momentum.

The prototype gave the team a clear starting point and increased confidence and speed in early design and scripting decisions.

Scalable foundation.

It also established a repeatable foundation for the wider programme, proving how a minimalist design could still feel enhanced through interaction, structure and motion.

I had a quick view of the prototype. It’s fantastic — love the design and attention to detail.
